Thrice-crowned MVP Nikola Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee while the Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half during an unintentional coming together with teammate Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately collapsed to the floor grabbing his leg.
The 30-year-old, that tops the NBA season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the game before sustaining the injury.
He will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to assess the extent of the issue.
"Instantly, he realized something was wrong," commented Denver coach David Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Whoever that suffers an injury, it's gut-wrenching, especially a player as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust as a team. Clearly, at this moment, I am focused about him personally and the frustration of experiencing something like that."
