The President Invites Loved Ones of Injured Guard Personnel to White House

President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Mourners assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she also intended to meet with the family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
