Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
US performer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a announcement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Television Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
