Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
