Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
