Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table on this occasion, however, after a comprehensive triumph in Adelaide left the home side with a 3-0 lead for the fourth consecutive series on home turf.

England's famous supporters' group, the organized fan base, have 3,000 fans flying out for the concluding fixtures in New South Wales and Victoria.

In addition, there are travel parties who will spend the Christmas period overseas, as well as relatives and companions embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The four siblings had their travel arrangements and match passes secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "a full year in advance", anticipating a rare England series success.

"All my colleagues has been teasing me that the series is done for the last two weeks," said Sam.

Even with the series lost, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience regardless," said Katie. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Naturally, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have spent so much money already."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year in Australia. It is also a new experience for us abroad at this time of year."

A schoolteacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the lengthy journey as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I can play golf to turn to," Katie concluded.
