Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their first championship series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Down by two runs, the star outfielder smashed a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot other than Springer with his playoff prowess," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, are still the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.

Toronto claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
