Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
